I love making hot sauce from my homegrown chilies and varieties I buy at my local farmer’s market. But I’ve also made them with hot peppers from the grocery store and it turns out great that way as well! The basic premise is to lightly ferment hot peppers before blending them into a sauce, similarly to making sauerkraut and the like, then mix them up with vinegar.

Hot sauce has countless variations, such as the consistency of the peppers, the preparation of the peppers (fermented, fresh, dried, roasted, pan cooked) the actual types of peppers used in the hot sauce, the use of other ingredients, and more. Here is a list of popular hot sauce types!

I hope you would find these recipes helpful: 1 lb. Fresh Chiles, Such As Jalapeno, Serrano, Fresno, Poblano, Habanero, Or A Mix.

This recipe is a terrific starting point if you want to create your own hot sauce, whether you prefer a clear heat that lets the fruity taste of the peppers show through or a well-seasoned hot sauce.

Follow these simple steps to make a spicy hot sauce:

  1. The peppers should be grilled. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Bake the superhot chilli peppers and garlic on a baking sheet for 15-20 minutes, or until the skins are slightly charred. Keep an eye out for them. Be careful around any fumes and avoid letting them burn.
  2. Ingredients should be processed. In a food processor, combine the peppers. Put garlic cloves in the food processor after you squeeze the skins off of them. Process in the basil leaves.
  3. If desired, season with salt and strain. Stir in the salt. If desired, filter the sauce using a colander or a food mill. To get the appropriate consistency, add additional vinegar or water as necessary.
  4. Put it in a bottle. Fill bottles with the mixture and serve. Offer your pals this! The flavours will blend more as they rest for a while.
  5. That's it, my friends!

In addition to the evident heat this sauce will produce, the cooking fumes should also be avoided. In a room with good ventilation, prepare this sauce.

If you can, let the windows open. With superhot peppers, in particular, the vapours can be unpleasant. To protect your eyes, think about using a mask or protective glasses.
