My family loves to eat. So when we have time, we cook a feast, sit together and catch up. We also bingewatch our favorite tv series or movie series. We also go out for ice cream and roam around the city. Other times, we play fun board games. It really doesn’t require you a lot of money to spend time and have fun with your family. As long as you are physically and mentally present, your family will surely appreciate and treasure those moments with you.

Here are some fun ideas you can do – Weekend Family Activities. Enjoy.

My family and close friends love the beach. Usually every weekend we would go to relatives' rest house and would do sort of activities there, especially with the heat in our country it is also a good way to relax and kind of cool down. We would usually be separated, the kids and the adults. The adults would usually go around the property and sometimes play all sorts of board games while the kids would go along the beach and walk. Just recently they got ATV's so us kids would drive it up to a cave and swim around it.

2. Movie or game night: Choose a movie or a game that the whole family can enjoy, and spend the evening together. Don't forget the popcorn and snacks!

3. Cooking or baking: Get everyone involved in the kitchen and prepare a meal or bake some desserts together. This can be a fun and educational activity that also teaches valuable life skills.

4. Arts and crafts: Get creative with some art projects or crafts, like painting, drawing, or making DIY decorations for the home.

Outdoor Activities: Go for a hike, have a picnic in the park, go to the beach, or have a family bike ride.

Game Night: Play board games or card games with the family. It is a great way to spend time together and bond.

There is a number of suggestions - stuff I usually to do :

  • Movies at home with Take Out Food and/or Popcorn and Favorite Snacks. If the budget allows, go out to the Movie Theaters since the Shutdown is lifted.
  • Power Walk around in your favorite Mall, but instead of shopping, squeeze in some exercise since outside is not really safe right now.
  • Do Volunteer Work in your area.

My family loves spending time in green areas during our free time, as we live in a big city. In Istanbul, we prefer forests as green spaces. The reason we prefer forests is that they also have clean and affordable restaurants within them. In these restaurants, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Bosphorus, taste delicious food, and savor a delightful dessert. Particularly on the Anatolian side of Istanbul, Fethipaşa Grove and Cemile Sultan Grove are enjoyable forests with a Bosphorus view that you can choose to visit.
